Celebrating a Proud Heritage and a Vibrant Future

On Sun., Oct. 20, the LSO began its season with “More Halloween Treats.” The audience enjoyed pop culture favorites along with iconic classical works from Indiana Jones and Ghostbusters to In the Hall of the Mountain King and Danse Infernale. Many guests attended in costume. Kids joined the onstage costume parade, and a little later, zombies did the tango!

There was so much excitement and warmth of the holiday season with the special fundraiser performance, “JOY, JOY, JOY,” on Sat., Dec. 14. This family friendly seasonal extravaganza featured the talents of local singers, dancers, and musicians.

"Date Night: With Heart Strings" was a lovely romantic evening set to the sounds of the Brio String Quartet on Sat., Feb. 15. The musicians, who also play for the LSO, performed a mix of classical and contemporary works from Beethoven and Dvorak to Adele and Five for Fighting.

Audience members got a chance to tap their feet to something old, new, borrowed, and blues. In March, the LSO Brass Ensemble played rhythms that spanned the ages with titles such as Ain’t Misbehaving and Jump Swing Fever, as well as popular favorites from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Disney, and MGM musicals. The brass event had the flair of a Mardi Gras celebration!

The LSO is thrilled to welcome Gustavo Romero, an internationally recognized concert pianist, back to Lynchburg on Sun., May 4. The repertoire will include pieces from Mozart, Chopin, and Finzi.
