7/9/09: LSO Elects New Board President, Members
The Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra board of directors has a new president and vice president, and seven community leaders have joined the board that provides broad governance for the prominent arts organization.
Rick Edwards is the board's new president. Edwards is retired from AREVA NP, and serves as development coordinator for the Lynchburg affiliate of Habitat for Humanity. He replaces Cary T. Roberts, who is now immediate past president after serving an extended 2 ½ years in the presidency.
New board vice president is Margie Lippard, who serves as vice president for resource development for the United Way of Central Virginia.
New board members are arts advocate June Britt of Britt Marketing; community volunteer Fred Fauber; Susan Hess, manager of strategic communications and marketing for AREVA NP; Betsy Mudie, coordinator of volunteer services for Centra Health's Virginia Baptist Hospital; Dan Raessler, chair of the music department at Randolph College; community volunteer Richard Royer; and Lynchburg attorney Linda Westenburger.
Also new to the board this year are Linda Edwards, president of the Friends of the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra, and Connie Villa, vice president of the Friends organization.
Returning officers are treasurer Laura Sprouse and secretary Anja Falcone.
Board members continuing their service are Brian Moore, Cary Roberts, Tracy Sendrick, Marcia Jones Thom, and Anitra Webster. LSO musician representatives on the board are Norma Brandsberg, Bill Carroll, and Michael Straw.
